Cheryl 'Cherry' Isabelle Short-Lee, obituary
WARREN — We have lost another angel. Cheryl (Cherry) Isabelle Short-Lee, 75, passed away unexpectedly but peacefully, from a brain aneurysm on April 3, 2026.
Cherry was born in 1950 in Ukiah, California, to Audry and Fred Short. She attended 6 schools during her travels with her parents, who were involved in international construction projects. She attended high school in India and volunteered at Mother Teresa’s orphanage in Bombay on weekends.
Cherry was a founding member of the Ashwood Waldorf School in Rockport. She earned her early childhood degree and ran a very popular kindergarten at her home on the St. George River in Warren. She spent her life serving and helping others and had a large following of loving friends, both young and old. She had a very strong faith and was an active member of the Christian Community Church.
She is survived by her three children, Emma Rose (Seattle), Isaiah (New York), and Timothy (Warren, Maine); and her husband of 50 years, Richard Lee.
There will be a large private service, and later in June, the family will celebrate her life with a party including her friends and extended family.
Arrangements are in the care of Burpee, Carpenter & Hutchins Funeral Home, Rockland.
