Camden Hills Boys Soccers defeats Hampden Academy, 5 to 1
Playing at Hampden Academy Sept. 5, the Camden Hills Regional High School Boys Soccer Team prevailed over Hampden Academy by 5 to 1.
Connor Middleton, Camden Hills Regional High School junior, recorded his first-ever hat trick for the Windjammers and Soren Johnson had three assists. Also scoring for the Jammers were Carvery Heyniger and Mason Contakos.
Senior Jasper Hackett also had an assist. Oscar Barnes played well in goal for Camden Hills and made three saves on four Bronco shots. Camden Hills held the edge in shots 19-4 and in Corners 8-0.
The Jammers head to Lewiston on Tuesday, September 9, for a rematch of last year's Northern Maine Class A final.
"Get your popcorn ready as it's always one of the best games of the season," said Coach Ryan Hurley. "I'm really happy with how we played. Hampden was organized and will win a lot of games this year, so it's a good win for us. We did a nice job keeping possession and playing the game the way we want to play. We will need to put in an even better performance against Lewiston at their place on Tuesday but for this early in the season, I like where we are headed, and the potential of this team is very positive."
