The Rockport Garden Club’s 2022 scholarship awards were recently awarded at a private ceremony for graduates and their families at the Camden-Rockport high school.

Two worthy recipients were awarded a total of $ 4,800, according to the Club, in a news release.

Allison Gill, of Tenants Harbor, who attends St. Lawrence University in Canton, New York, and majors in environmental science, was awarded $4,200.

Delia Cognard, of Camden, also received $4,200. She is an upcoming sophomore at Bishop’s University, in Sherbrooke, Quebec, Canada, and is majoring in geography. Post college, she wishes to join the Peace Corps for two years to help establish sustainable agricultural systems in under developed countries.

RGC scholarships are comprised of 25% of their club’s net income and other designated or donated funds, according to the Club. They are awarded for the pursuit of horticultural or environmental related degrees to CHRHS graduating seniors, and/or adults living in the community, who elect to return to college or other types of continuing education.

Awarding the yearly scholarships to the community is a rewarding, satisfying and long held mission of the Rockport Garden Club, according to Marilyn MCWilliams, RGC Scholarship Chair.
