Event Date
Saturday, March 21, 2026 - 01:00 pm to 05:00 pmRockland’s community radio station, WRFR 93.3, is hosting a “Public Party” at the Flanagan Community Center on Saturday, March 21. The event, which runs from 1 to 5 p.m., is open to all, with free admission.
“This is a community get-together, a chance for people to meet their Rockland neighbors and enjoy an afternoon of live local music, fun and games for all ages, local arts and crafts, food and drink - very informal, come when you can,” says station manager Joe Steinberger, in a news release.
“We are all volunteers at WRFR,” says Steinberger, "our mission is to build community, which is the foundation of our democracy. The Public Party is about bringing people together to celebrate our diversity, to learn from each other, and to enjoy the good life that mutual respect and trust can bring us.”
The local arts and crafts on display and for sale are being organized by the Rockland Makers Market. The music is being organized by Jim Gibson, a WRFR volunteer and DJ. Gibson has signed up local musicians Richard Alfred Johnson, Tom Albury, Anthony March, Ali Warren, the Urban Bryant duo, and others. The Flanagan Center’s game room, with ping-pong, air hockey, foosball, and pool tables, will be open for play. Food and drink will include pizza from South End Grocery and coffee from Rock City Cafe, both WRFR sponsors.
WRFR’s modest budget is supported by donations and by local business sponsors. The station broadcasts locally at 93.3 FM, and also streams globally online at their website: wrfr.org.
