UPDATE: Rockport Select Board approves personnel investigation, mum on why

    ROCKPORT — On July 12, the Rockport Select Board held a closed door meeting for the sole purpose of considering a personnel issue. After exiting executive session, the board voted unanimously to “arrange for a third party investigation into a personnel matter,” according to the board’s chairman on July 13.

    On July 16, Select Board Chairman Doug Cole said further that the Select Board will be the entity approving the hire of the third party investigator, and that an investigator has yet to be selected.

    In response to the the question of who would be reviewing the findings, Cole said, “initially, I believe I will review the findings.”

    In response to the question of what precipitated the decision, Cole said, “a select board member requested an executive session.”

    And asked who made the motion, Cole said: “I don't remember. Ken [McKinley, vice chairman] kept the minutes. I believe it was either Deb [Hall] or Jeff [Hamilton].”


     

    ROCKPORT — The Rockport Select Board held an executive session today, July 12, at 5 p.m. in the Town Manager’s Conference Room. Notice of the meeting had been posted on the town website calendar and police posted notice at three town spots at 2 p.m.

    According to Select Board Chairman Doug Cole, via an email response to questions, the closed door meeting was followed by an open session with a motion that, "the Select Board will arrange for a third party investigation into a personnel matter.”

    The board, consisting of Cole, Ken McKinley, Mark Kelley, Debra Hall and Jeff Hamilton, voted 5-0 in favor, Cole said.

    The executive session was convened with an agenda that included one item: Discussion of a Personnel Matter pursuant to 1 M.R.S.A. Section 405(6)(A).
