The Town of Union has selected John Shepard as recipient of the 2026 Union, Maine, Spirit of America Foundation Tribute for his commendable community service. The Select Board presented a framed copy of the tribute to Shepard during the June 2, 2026 Board meeting.

The tribute reads:

Be it Resolved by the Select Board of the Town of Union as follows:

Whereas, John has served on the Select Board and held the seat of Chair;

Whereas, John has served on the Budget Committee and held the seat of Chair;

Whereas, John has served on the Community Resilience Partnership Committee;

Whereas, John has served on the Cemetery Board of Trustees;

Whereas, John has served on the Comprehensive Plan Committee;

Whereas, John has served on the Tri-County Solid Waste Management Board;

Be it Resolved by the Select Board of the Town of Union that John Shepard is hereby recognized for his outstanding achievements and honors he has brought upon their community with the 2026 Union, Maine Spirit of America Foundation Tribute; and

Be it Further Resolved that a copy of this resolution be presented to John Shepard for appropriate display.
