ROCKLAND — The Midcoast Babe Ruth League playoffs have concluded with the championship game played Sunday, July 7 in Rockland.

This season, the league playoffs was a single-elimination tournament played over three consecutive days, July 5-7, at Morrill Field.

The playoff seeds, with final records in parentheses, include:

1. Rockland Ford (9-1)
2. Newcastle (8-2)
3. Tidewater Oil (6-4)
4. Damariscotta Lions (6-4)
5. Union Farm Equipment (4-6)
6. P.G. Willey (3-7)
7. Waldoboro (3-7)
8. Granite Coast Orthodontics (1-9)

Tidewater Oil was the third seed based on its win over Damariscotta Lions.

P.G. Willey was the sixth seed based on its win over Waldoboro.

Following the league playoffs, no area Babe Ruth all-star teams are being formed meaning the Midcoast area will not be represented in the state all-star tournament to be played this month.

“A change in format coupled with an earlier commitment date led us to a league wide survey and we determined that we just did not have enough boys from the 8 teams that were willing to play to make up a team in any of the divisions,” said Midcoast Babe Ruth League president Don Shields.
