Strand Theatre introduces new audio technology in partnership with local audiologist
ROCKLAND — The Strand Theatre announces a new partnership with local audiologist Gary D. Schwartzberg, AuD, to bring Auracast broadcast audio technology to the historic downtown venue.
"This initiative will significantly enhance the listening experience for patrons with hearing loss, while preserving the theater’s rich cultural legacy," said the Strand, in a news release.
Auracast broadcast audio is an emerging Bluetooth technology that allows users to receive high-quality, low-latency audio directly to compatible hearing aids, cochlear implants, earbuds, and smartphones. The Strand also offers Auracast listening devices with receivers and headphones for patrons without their own equipment.
"By implementing this system, the theater can provide guests with a more accessible, personalized, and immersive audio experience during films, concerts, and live performances," said the Strand.
“This partnership represents a major step forward in accessibility and innovation," said Dr. Schwartzberg. "It reflects our shared commitment to making arts and entertainment accessible to everyone in our community. I’m thrilled to help bring this capability to such an iconic community venue.”
"The Strand Theatre, a cornerstone of Rockland’s arts scene, has long been committed to inclusivity and audience engagement," said the news release. "The addition of Auracast™ technology underscores the theater’s dedication to ensuring that all patrons can fully enjoy its diverse programming."
Once launched, the theater will be the first entertainment venue in Maine to offer Auracast broadcast audio, according to the Strand.
