"It’s the Small Things" May exhibit at Camden library celebrates art in small sizes
Event Date
Saturday, May 09, 2026 - 01:00 pm to 03:00 pmThe Union of Maine Visual Artists presents "It’s the Small Things," an exhibition that celebrates art in small sizes reflecting the moments, places, or acts of creation that evoke joy and solace. The show runs from May 5 to May 29, in the Picker Room Gallery of the Camden Public Library. An opening reception will be held Saturday, May 9, from 1 - 3 p.m.
"We are constantly reminded to remember to stop and smell the roses, look on the bright side, and that it’s the small things that matter," said a CPL news release.
The 28 artists in this show respond to the question: what gets us through difficult times? What small things attract our attention or inspire a sense of presence or timelessness? In this exhibition, artists express what rekindles their spirits, sparks joy, or offers introspection.
The artwork was created with a variety of media including photographs, prints, clay, and paintings from representation to abstraction. Many focus on the sense of awe derived from the natural world. Represented also are treasured memories, beloved objects, and gifts from the sea and garden.
Meet the artists on May 9, from 1 - 3 p.m. All are welcome, refreshments will be served.
