Steven Robert Jacobson, passed away August 16, 2019 at the Sussman House in Rockport, Maine. Steve was born to Lucille Rogers Jacobson and Kenneth Jacobson, Sr. He grew up in Thomaston, Maine where he graduated from Georges Valley High School in 1968.

From an early age, Steve enjoyed the outdoors and had many adventures with his older brother and best friend, Kenny. He had an early interest in cars and spent many days restoring them. He especially loved his black Buick, Camero, Falcon, Mustang, and Impala SS.

In 1969, he married his wife of 50 years, Rosie. They made their home in St. George, Maine, where they raised their two daughters, Christine and Julie. Steve had many family ties to St. George. He took pride in his Swedish heritage and enjoyed researching his family’s history.

Steve loved the outdoors and was an avid fisherman. He enjoyed many fishing adventures with his father-in-law, Albert, and sons-in-law, David and Brian. He spent many hours on the pond at his Lincolnville cottage, one of his favorite places on Earth. He also enjoyed many special times at Lincolnville Beach, Pierce Pond, and Rainbow Lake. He went on many trips to the Caribbean Islands, where he enjoyed the sun, the beach, blue drinks, and cigars with his friends.

Steve was a talented photographer and was constantly taking pictures, capturing the beauty of everything he saw. He took thousands of pictures of his beloved dogs, Acadia and Harold.

Steve’s interest in cars and mechanical talents led him to attend and graduate from Eastern Maine Community College. After several years working as a mechanic, Steve attended the Maine Criminal Justice Academy. Following his graduation, he worked on the Rockland Police Department and  the Knox County Sheriff’s Department.

After leaving the Sheriff's Department, Steve began a forty year career in the oil business, starting as an oil burner technician and ending as a Vice President at Webber Energy. He was appointed by John McKernan to the Oil Burner Licensing Board and Underground Tank Board, which he served on for several years before becoming chairman of each. He proudly served on the boards of the Muscular Dystrophy Association of Maine and Eastern Maine Community College, as well.

Steve was a kind and thoughtful man, always putting others before himself. He could fix anything he touched and was always willing to lend a hand. He taught us about commitment, integrity, loyalty, and love of family above all else.
