WALDOBORO — The Medomak and Oceanside middle school girls soccer teams met on the pitch in Waldoboro for a Thursday, Sept. 26 showdown.

After a hard fought battle, the host Riverhawks collected a 4-1 victory.

The scoring opened with Medomak’s Haley Blake finding the back of the net after the Oceanside goal deflected a Sara Nelson shot at the 13 minute mark.

A minute later, Haley Puchalski tallied Medomak’s second goal of the game.

Five minutes later, Kytana Williamson crossed the ball to the middle of the field to set up a goal by Alyssa Grindle to give the hosts a 3-0 advantage into the halftime pause.

Eileen Young netted Oceanside’s lone goal of the contest in the second half.

Five minutes after the Oceanside tally, Williamson scored courtesy a deflection off an Oceanside player.

“Good team passing and effort was shown today for [the Riverhawks],” said Medomak coach Andrea Williamson. “Madison Boynton, Haley Puchalski, and Kendra Gladu were tough on defense.”

The regular season includes two more contests for Medomak, both at home. The Riverhawks will host Troy Howard on Monday, Sept. 30 and Great Salt Bay on Friday, Oct. 4.

Only one game remains on the regular season schedule for Oceanside. The Mariners will host Woolwich on Wednesday, Oct. 2.
