"Maine has a rich literary heritage, including one of poets and poetry, that continues today," said Rockland Public Library, in a news rleae.

The Poetry Peers writing group will present a tribute to Maine poets (and poets associated with Maine) on Tuesday, Dec. 2 at 6 p.m. Group members will read a poem by their selected poet and biographical information about them, then respond to their poet or poem with an original piece. 

Selected poets include Elizabeth Bishop, Wesley McNair, Henry Wadsworth Longfellow, Stuart Kestenbaum, Elizabeth Coatsworth, Celia Thaxter, and Andrea Gibson.

The Rockland Public Library is located at 80 Union Street.
