Natalie (Wall) Sylvester, obituary
OWLS HEAD — Natalie Louise (Wall) Sylvester passed away peacefully in her sleep May 20, 2026 at the age of 97.
She was born at Dresden, December 15, 1928, the daughter of Harold and Mary (Seigers) Wall. She attended Dresden schools and after moving to Warren, graduated from Warren High School in 1947.
She later moved to Rockland and worked for 10 years at the former State News Company, where she met and married the love of her life, Theodore W. Sylvester, Jr., in 1954. After taking time off to raise a family, Natalie worked for several years at Bonnar-Vawter in Rockland and moved with the company to Belmont where it continued operation as BV Business Forms. She later worked at Scanson Foods and The Courier-Gazette in Rockland.
Natalie and her husband were avid country music fans and frequently attended local area country music dances as well as traveling to Nashville and Branson. The couple also traveled extensively throughout the United States and parts of Europe and Central America with friends and family. A hobby of particular interest to Natalie was maintaining numerous bird feeders in her back yard and enjoying the many birds that came to them, from ducks to hummingbirds. She especially enjoyed weekly family gatherings at her home where she would prepare a Sunday dinner, or in the summer, hold a backyard barbecue.
She was a member of Aldersgate United Methodist Church of Rockland.
She is predeceased by her loving husband of 61 years, Theodore W. Sylvester, Jr., formerly of Owls Head; three brothers, Harold G., Albert A., and Charles R. Wall; and a sister, Evelyn Linscott; all formerly of Warren.
She is survived by three sons, Scott Sylvester of Rockland, Steven Sylvester and his wife Barbara of Rockport, and Stuart Sylvester and his wife Gwendolyn Christman of Owls Head; four grandchildren, Matthew Sylvester of Lubbock, Texas, Brian Sylvester of Dover, Delaware, Jacob Sylvester and his wife Maria of North Canaan, Connecticut, and Danielle Sylvester Deal and husband Haydn of Owls Head; great grandchildren, Alison and Kaitlin Sylvester of Camden, Liam and Nolan Sylvester of North Canaan, Connecticut, and Ezra, Thea and Natalie Deal of Owls Head; and several nieces and nephews.
A memorial services will be held Tuesday, June 2, 2026, at 2 p.m., at Burpee, Carpenter & Hutchins Funeral Home, 110 Limerock Street, Rockland. She will be laid to rest beside her husband at Achorn Cemetery, Old County Road, Rockland.
