Naomi ‘Nomi’ Seastead, obituary
WALDOBORO — Naomi ‘Nomi’ Ruth Seastead, 70, passed away peacefully after multiple battles with cancer, surrounded by her loving family on August 11, 2025.
She was born on December 19, 1954, in Kittanning, Pennsylvania, to Robert and Robin Seastead with a kind and gentle spirit, spending her life caring deeply for others, helping those in need, and loving without limits. Nomi spent her early years in any child's dream, on a farm in Pennsylvania before her parents bought a pharmacy and moved to Thomaston. There Nomi spent time living in a home full of music, working behind the counters of her parents store, learning how to count change, work a soda fountain, be a child, chase icky boys, grow up, and do some questionable things her sons never needed to hear about. (But we laughed regardless.)
Later she became an activities director for a local boarding home caring for adults with intellectual and physical disabilities where she created magic and wonder for them as she did everyone else in her life. She was constantly organizing birthday parties, field trips, dance and music nights, and holiday events. Nomi supported her residents through the good and the bad of their lives and ensured everyone felt like they were special and all part of a family.
With that inspiration, some hard work, and help, Nomi eventually bought and ran her own boarding home. She continued to enrich the lives of others and advocate for those who couldn't for themselves, where her care and often heard "fiery opinions" were loudest.
After she stopped working, her care and love for others remained a driving force in her life as she continued to spend her time helping others in need. She worked with charitable organizations, gave to others, always shunning recognition or accolades. Her kindness touched more people than we ever knew, and everyone she met.
Her greatest joy was her family, and she found happiness in every moment spent with them. Whether it was gathering for a family meal, celebrating holidays, going on an adventure out of town, spending time with her feet in warm sandy beaches, going to the Christmas Tree Shop, getting lost, making cookies, or even just listening on the phone when you needed to talk, she made those around her always feel loved. Her kindness wasn’t just in what she did, but in who she was.
Her love was her greatest gift and will live on in the hearts of her family and everyone who knew her.
Nomi is survived by husband, Vinny Rotondo; her sons, Jesse Weaver and Matt Weaver; her grandchildren, Zoey Proctor, Ryker Weaver, Keeleigh Weaver, and Daniel Gerstel; her sisters, Heidi Goggin and Marta Seastead; and ‘those damn dogs’, Logan, Midnight, and Bandit.
She will also be remembered with love by extended family and many dear friends, all of whom share stories of the giving kindness we knew her for.
Nomi has requested that there be no service and instead would like everyone to remember her as she was and all the good times had with her.
In her memory, she would ask you to do good things, be good people, decorate for holidays, love your family and friends, and donate to any eye, hearing, cancer, or children's foundation.
Rest in Peace, Mumma.
Good night. Sleep tight. May the sand be warm. And sun be bright.
