Medomak 8th baseball mercy-rules St. George in playoff opener

WALDOBORO — The Medomak eighth grade baseball team hosted St. George in Waldoboro for round one of the Busline League playoffs Tuesday, June 1. 

Though both squads saw multiple runs cross the plate in the first two innings, Medomak advanced to the next round with a 19-7 victory in five innings. 

St. George tallied two runs in the first inning, two in the second, two in the fourth and one in the fifth. Medomak, meanwhile, plated one in the first inning, six in the second, four in the third, four in the fourth and four in the fifth. 

Pitching for Medomak were Ashton Francis (one inning, one strikeout, five walks), Owen Dostie (2.2 innings, five strikeouts, eight walks, one hit) and Tucker Brown (1.2 innings, one hit, two walks). 

At the plate for Medomak were Josh Blake (two runs), Aidyn Herring (double, three runs), Owen Dostie (double, two runs), Wyatt Simmons (two doubles, single, run), Josh Stone (single), Tucker Brown (single, run), Ashton Francis (three runs), Konner Scofield (two runs), Austin Wilshire (two runs), Jayden Drost (double, two runs) and Griffin Holgerson (single, run). 

Stats were not available for St. George. 

With the win, Medomak will travel Wednesday, June 2 to Belfast to challenge Troy Howard in the next round of the playoffs at 3:45 p.m.
