ROCKLAND — MaryEllen Benner, 62, died peacefully, with her family at her side, Saturday, October 2, 2021 at Sussman Hospice House in Rockport.

Born in Camden, November 16, 1958, she was the daughter of William Crockett, Jr. and Judith Young Lahey. Educated locally, she was a graduate of Medomak Valley High School. Later she attended Bernard’s Hairdressing School.

For many years she worked as a beautician in Camden and also saw local clients at her home in Friendship. Always a hard worker, MaryEllen was employed for several years at the Friendship Market owned by John Black, as well as at Rockland Hannaford for over 15 years.

MaryEllen’s greatest joy in life were her two sons. She took great pride in their accomplishments and never missed a sporting event or school activity. She loved completing puzzles with her mother, cheating at Yahtzee, and spending every moment she could with her grandchildren. Born with the gift of gab, MaryEllen spent countless hours on the phone nurturing her many close relationships. She was a caregiver at heart and enjoyed cooking and no one ever went hungry.

MaryEllen will be deeply missed by all who loved her.
