Maine State Police news
Following is a roundup of Maine State Police Troop D weekly activities, as reported by the agency, for the time period Sept. 10–16, 2012.
Troop D is responsible for the areas of Maine that include Sagadahoc, Lincoln, Waldo, Knox counties, the southern half of Kennebec County and part of northern Cumberland County. The Troop also patrols Interstate 295 from Brunswick to Gardiner. The Troop's compliment includes a lieutenant, three sergeants, 25 troopers and a secretary.
Sept. 8
A trooper stopped a black Jeep on Route 131 in Searsmont with oversized tires and loud exhaust. A male juvenile was summoned for an intermediate license violation.
Sept. 9
A trooper stopped a vehicle on Lakeview Drive in China for no license plate lights. Further investigation revealed the operator, Samantha Weston, 40, had a suspended New York driver's license. Weston was charged with operating without a license.
Sept. 10
Troopers received a phone message from Lorry Utting, 39, who requested to retrieve property from the Troop D evidence room. The property was returned and Utting was arrested for an active warrant out of Belfast District Court for failing to appear.
A trooper responded to Halldale Road in Montville for a family fight. Louanne Littlefield, 55, was charged with operating under the influence of alcohol, criminal mischief and disorderly conduct.
A trooper received a call from the Sun Sun Chinese restaurant in Randolph after one of their delivery personnel made a delivery to Gardiner High School for an order of $71 dollars of Chinese food. The delivery was made and the delivery boy was given a sealed envelope containing only two dollars. Jacob McMillan, 18, was located and summonsed for the theft.
A trooper was at a hearing in Rockland District Court when the assistant district attorney told him that a defendant, Arthur C. Marriner, 47, had an active arrest warrant for domestic violence assault and violating conditions of release. The warrant was confirmed and after the trial, Marriner was arrested and taken to the Knox County Jail.
A trooper received a report of an erratic vehicle on Route 3 in China and was informed this was the third complaint on the vehicle for erratic operation that night. A trooper eventually caught up with the vehicle on Route 105 in Augusta and an investigation revealed the operator, Whitney Butler, 26, was allegeldy under the influence of drugs. Whitney was charged with operating under the influence (drugs), unlawful possession of schedule Z drugs and possession of drug paraphernalia.
A trooper stopped Clarence Lawrence, 34, on I-295 in Bowdoinham for speeding. Investigation revealed his license was under suspension for child support issues. He was summoned and released.
A trooper responded to Waterville Road in Waldo after a verbal altercation was reported between a couple. Both appeared to be agitated with one another over the state of their finances.
Sept. 11
A trooper stopped a vehicle on Route 3 in China being operated by Nicholas Mason, 16, of Vassalboro, for multiple vehicle defects. Mason had a passenger with him and was still on a provisional license. He was summonsed for operating beyond license restrictions.
Sept. 12
A trooper stopped Daniel Weeks, 27, of Augusta, on Route 105 in Windsor. It was determined Weeks was operating with a suspended license. He was summonsed for the offense and a licensed operator came to retrieve him and the vehicle.
A trooper interviewed three suspects in reference to a burglary at 34 Windsor St. in Randolph. Matt True, 19, Damon Rausch, 19, and a juvenile were subsequently charged with the burglary. Several of the stolen items have been recovered.
Troopers responded to Windsor Street in Randolph for a report of a male subject smashing windows and furniture inside the house. A 17-year-old male was located at the residence and stated he did it because his X-Box had been stolen "from the kid who lived there." The juvenile became combative and was ultimately arrested and charged with aggravated criminal mischief and refusing to submit to arrest.
A trooper arrested Louis Miller, 48, of Palermo for violation of conditional release.
A trooper received a traffic complaint while on patrol on Interstate 295 in Freeport. It was noted that the suspect vehicle was weaving all over the road and also almost stuck two separate vehicles. A registration number was given along with a brief vehicle description. The suspect vehicle was stopped and the male operator was identified as Gordon Damren, 41, of Bath. Damren was arrested for operating under the influence.
Sept. 13
A trooper received information from an anonymous person that Erica Judkins, 23, had an active arrest warrant, and was hiding at a residence on Marshall Shore Road in Liberty. Judkins was located, arrested and transported to Waldo County Jail.
Troopers responded to a shots fired complaint on Woodbury Lane in China. No one was injured and the investigation is ongoing.
A trooper stopped a vehicle on Interstate 295 for driving 80 mph in a posted 65 mph zone. Benjamin Hicks, 32, was charged with operating after suspension and the vehicle was towed.
Sept. 14
Troopers responded to Western Ridge Road in Palermo for a trespassing complaint. Ronald Williams, 41, of Wiscasset was allegedly attempting to steal items from the outbuildings and vehicles on the property. He was arrested and charged with burglary, theft and criminal trespass.
Troopers and detectives responded to Waterville Road for the report of a burglary in progress. A Juvenile female stated there was a man with a ski mask standing outside her window. A K-9 track brought about negative results and it remains an ongoing investigation.
A trooper responded to Mountain Valley Highway for the report of a theft, with homemade political signs being taken off the property. The case is under investigation.
A trooper stopped Daniel Lane, 45, of Augusta, in China. Lane was determined to have a suspended license and allegedly had an open alcoholic beverage in the vehicle. Lane was issued a summons for criminal operating after suspension and the alcohol offense and released.
A trooper stopped a vehicle on Route 17 in Windsor for not having a front license plate. Further investigation revealed the operator, Connor Williams-Noel, 23, had a suspended driver's license. Connor was charged with operating after suspension.
A trooper arrested Timothy Smith, 25, of Windsor, for domestic violence assault.
A trooper stopped a vehicle on Route 9 in Chelsea after running a registration check and learning that the vehicle's registration had expired in March 2011. The operator, identified as Earle Welch III, 27, of Randolph, had a suspended driver's license. Welch had also allegedly put a fictitious sticker on the vehicle. He was summoned for displaying a fictitious sticker, operating with expired registration greater than 150 days and charged with civil operating after suspension. The vehicle was towed from the scene.
Sept. 15
A trooper stopped a vehicle for a suspicious sticker on Route 27 in Dresden . The driver, Heather Abbott, 31, of Skowhegan, was stopped and allegedly admitted after roadside questioning that she had just put a sticker that she made on her own on the windshield. Abbott was summonsed for displaying a fictitious sticker and released.
Troopers responded to the Pittston Fair Grounds for a report of an assault. They located Carlton Raymond, 28, who was being detained by security at the front gate and after further investigation, Raymond was charged with simple assault.
A trooper stopped a truck, on North Palermo Road in Palermo, with tires too wide for the truck. Nicole Reynolds, 19, was charged with operating a defective motor vehicle (civil infraction) and released.
A trooper stopped a vehicle on Route 137 in China for not having a front license plate. The trooper obtained the license of the passenger, Kirkland Lamour, 25, and discovered he was wanted on a warrant out of Cumberland County. Lamour was arrested and transported to Kennebec County Jail.
Sept. 16
A trooper stopped a vehicle on Route 3 in Liberty for a suspicious sticker. George Day, 29, of Mercer, was arrested for two warrants out of Somerset County.
