Friday, April 10, 2026 - 07:00 pmQuilts are a social and visual representation of American history, from the first settlers to the 18th and 19th century colonists and the settlers of the American West to depictions of political and social progress to contemporary protest, according to The Lincolnville Historical Society, in a news release.
Friday, April 10, at 7 p.m., at the Historical Society, Jan Kelsey will discuss textiles, quilts and quilt making in the context of the colonization, revolution, industrialization and awakening of our country to present day trends and styles.
The industrialization of our country is reflected in the evolution of styles of quilts over the centuries. Styles of quilts and the fabrics they are made of are reflective of the era in which they are made and can be dated accordingly.
