PechaKucha Night at Strand Theatre, April 10

Friday, April 10, 2026 - 07:00 pmROCKLAND — PechaKucha Night, an evening of visual storytelling, will take place Friday, April 10, at the Strand Theatre in Rockland. Doors open at 6:30 p.m. and the program begins at 7 p.m. A reception will immediately follow the event at CMCA on Winter Street.
Topics will range from the visual arts, architectural design, and drumming to community-oriented education and support services.
Participants for PechaKucha Midcoast’s April 2026 edition are:
Sam Finkelstein, artist;
Alan Kearl, executive director, AIO Food Pantry;
Lucy Preston (Class of ’26) and Winnie Ulland (Class of ’28), student curators, Colby College Museum of Art;
Pia Coronel, artist, curator, community builder;
Zel Bowman-Laberge, architect;
Alexandra Martin, creative and educator; and
Ger Tysk, artistic director of Japanese Taiko Drumming Ensemble ShinDaiko.
Admittance is $6.50 (includes fees), with advance tickets available through the Strand Theatre, at RocklandStrand.com. Any remaining available tickets will be sold at the door the night of the event.
"Advance purchase is recommended; the event routinely sells out," said the Strand, in a news release.
The PechaKucha format is a unique presentation style where individuals share their work, ideas, and creative process with a 20-second-per-image, 20-image slideshow. Each of the evening’s presenters will provide a six minute and 40 second glimpse into their craft.
The evening’s emcee will be Anneli Skaar. The poster design was done by Anna Dietz.
The event sponsor is Edward Jones, Andrea L Curtis-Southard broker. PechaKucha Night Midcoast Maine’s organizing partners include 2A Architects; Center for Maine Contemporary Art; Farnsworth Art Museum; Magpie Creative; Maine Boats, Homes & Harbors; and the Strand Theatre.
