M. Louise Cormier, obituary
STANDISH — M. Louise Cormier, 91, died peacefully, Friday, June 28, 2024, at the Midcoast Senior Health Facility in Brunswick.
Born in Old Town, March 27, 1933, she was the 8th of 16 children born to Eugene and Artemise LaBelle.
On June 26, 1950, Louise married Joseph D. Cormier at St. Joseph’s Church in Old Town. Moving to Rockland in 1952, they resided here together for over 50 years.
Louise had a heart for babies, especially those in need. For many years as she was busy raising her first three children, she took in babies in the foster care system who were waiting to be adopted. Sometimes the children were in her care for only a few weeks, others for longer, but she loved them all. After her youngest two children were born, she operated a daycare center in her own home, caring for children whose parents were working.
Later in life Louise was a talented crafter, and enjoyed crocheting, making dolls and especially painting. Playing cards and reading romance novels were two of her other favorite pastimes.
She loved to travel, taking many trips all over the US and Canada with her family. She had a unique and special bond with each one of her children and led a full life.
She will be sadly missed by all who loved her.
