Knox County Sheriff’s Office K9 team acquires tracking certification
The Knox County Sheriff’s Office K9 team of Deputy William Reed and K9 Roo has acquired their tracking certification.
Over the past six months, they have successfully completed the 200-hour K9 tracking school through All Points Maine Police Canines, according to KCSO, in a news release. K9 Roo is a one-year-old Dutch Shepherd from Cloverfield K9 in Vermont.
Deputy Reed and K9 Roo will be able to aid in searches including for missing children, or those with dementia who may be lost. The team will also be used for searching and tracking suspects who may have fled a crime scene.
Deputy Reed has been with the Knox County Sheriff’s Office since November of 2024. He and K9 Roo can be seen making their rounds in the community. Roo loves meeting new people.
"If you see them out and about, please take the opportunity to say hello," said KCSO.
