Collage and card-making workshop with Argy Nestor, Dec. 11
Gibbs Library is offering a free collage and card-making workshop with artist and teacher Argy Nestor. The workshop, Discover Your Superpower: Hand-made Cards, will be held in the Bryant Room on Thursday, December 11, from 6-8 p.m. Registration is required. Email Delphine at runedoggy@gmail.com to register. Open to adults and teens.
In this collage-art workshop, participants will use images and text from magazines, pages from discarded books, and even bits of junk mail to create cards. No experience is necessary. Though not a requirement, if you have photographs, magazines, or other papers you’d like to incorporate, bring them to class to use in your artistic creations.
Class size is limited. This is a FREE workshop, but registration is required (to prepare materials and provide snacks).
Argy Nestor has lived in Union since 1980. She taught middle school art in RSU 40 until 2006, then served at the Maine Department of Education and the Maine Arts Commission, supporting Maine’s 1,200 visual and performing arts educators. In 2019, she returned to the classroom to teach art and direct Sweetland Middle School in Hope. During her career, Nestor has been presented with many awards for her commitment to education. In 1995, she was named Maine Teacher of the Year. At the heart of her work in education and in the community is collaboration. She enjoys teaching and exhibiting her artwork.
