OWLS HEAD & CRIEHAVEN — Jeffrey A. Jones, 50, passed away peacefully after a year long battle with cancer.

He leaves behind his sons, Benjamin and Carter, and their mother, Anne Edmands, of Owls Head.  During his illness he lived with and was cared for by his mother, Frances Stone Jones, of Owls Head.

He had the support of his Aunt Jessie Stone, Uncle Charles Stone also of Owls Head; his father Jeffrey Jones Sr. and his wife Nancy, of Bangor; siblings Leah of Providence, Rhode Island, and Toby of Washington, D.C.; his Uncle Ivan Stone, his wife Janis of Owls Head and their son, David, and his family; friends Jimmy Kalloch, of Rockland, and Jim Simmonds, of Lubec, as well as cousins, extended family and friends.

His beloved circle of close friends were inspired by his loyalty, tenacity and perseverance and offered him great support.

Jeff is predeceased by his Aunt Pamela Stone Strickland, maternal grandparents Charles “Bunk” and Muriel MacLeod Stone, and paternal grandparents Loren and Bula Jones.

Jeff learned to fish for lobster at a young age with his grandfather on the Rolling Stone.  He fished full time from Criehaven on Top Chop.

Jeff was an avid hunter and sportsman who enjoyed fishing and also was a member of the Camden Ski Patrol.  He shared these activities with his sons. Riding his motorcycle, scuba diving and curling as an active member of the Curling Club in Belfast were among his interests.

Of all his accomplishments he was most proud of his boys.  As they grew, he introduced them to the out of doors and activities he loved.  He harvested honey from his hives with his family and taught them to hunt and fish.

When his family visited him at their grandmother’s home over the past year, they entertained him with their own stories of hunting and dirt biking.  They gave him the love and laughter Jeff needed to fight on.

Jeff was a hard-working lobsterman who could always find humor in life’s challenges.

He courageously endured whatever treatments were required and was grateful for the dedication of all medical staff involved with his care, especially those at the Oncology Department at Pen Bay Medical Center and the Sussman House in Rockport, who provided a safe, comfortable and caring environment in his final hours.

A private service will be held at 2 p.m., Friday, December 11, 2020.
