'Jane Austen: Frump or Fashionista?' talk, era fashion show at Rockland library

Thursday, April 23, 2026 - 06:00 pmA talk by Dee Rieber, "Jane Austen: Frump or Fashionista?" will explore Jane Austen’s fashion “sense and sensibility” as evidenced through her personal letters and novels. The talk, taking place Thursday, April 23, at 6 p.m., at Rockland Public Library, will be followed by a Regency Era fashion show.
Dee Rieber is the Regional Coordinator for the Jane Austen Society of North America (JASNA) Maine. JASNA ME began meeting in 1979. In 1980, it became an official region of JASNA. They currently have around 80 members and many more “friends” on their mailing list. JASNA Maine hosts many events and activities around the state which celebrate the literature, life and times of novelist, Jane Austen (1775-1817). Events include talks, teas, movies, picnics, historic house tours, regency balls, a book club and more. Find out more at jasnamaine.org.
