PORT CLYDE — Moosey Productions and Herring Gut Coastal Science Center (HGCSC) will create a 15- to 20-minute documentary film, The Future at High Tide, to be broadcast on Maine Public and some short educational videos for use in classrooms and social media that address challenges and potential solutions to our marine life ecosystems including rising tides, invasive green crabs, and disappearing sea stars. The film will explore the need for data collection, research, and local action.

"Working with Gulf of Maine Research Institute’s Coastal Meet Ups and the St. George Town Resilience Committee, we will demonstrate ways viewers up and down the New England coast can get involved in helping their town adapt to flooding related to rising tides," said HGCSC, in a news release.

The filming will take place in July 2026 and will highlight the outreach and education Herring Gut Coastal Science Center is doing.

"We hope this film will inspire people to get involved in data collection, learn ways to adapt to our rising tides and changing climate, and notice their environment around them either as a resident or a visitor to coastal Maine," said HGCSC.

Tara Zabriskie of Moosey Productions has previously produced films for Maine public media: Defending the Dark, and The Buzz on Native Plants both focus on environmental issues and how we can each make a difference in our own backyard, according to HGCSC. Moosey Productions focuses on creating video content to inspire change and bring hope for the future. Moosey Productions works in partnership with organizations to elevate messages with themes in Nature, Science, Health, and History. 

"We expect the film to be available spring of 2027," said HGCSC.
