Elmer Perkins, obituary
BELFAST — Elmer Perkins, 96, of Belfast, passed away on October 2, 2025 in Bangor. He was born on November 8, 1928 in Hull's Cove, Maine, the son of Raymond and Gladys (Norton) Perkins Sr.
Elmer began working at a young age with his father doing work on farms in various towns. In his teens, his work ethic led him to start his over 60-year-long career, truck driving for Merrill Transport.
After retirement, he enjoyed tinkering with cars and anything automobile-related. After the passing of his wife, Elmer found enjoyment picking up his friend Jim and taking rides around Maine and New England.
He is predeceased by his parents; his wife, Agnes; daughters Laurelyn Deans, Leslie Perkins; siblings Raymond Jr., Arthur, and his twin brother, Charles.
Elmer is survived by his loving family: daughter Lorna Bernosky of Belfast; granddaughter, Michelle Atherton and partner John Cyr of Old Town; grandsons Elmer Deans and wife Amanda Curtis of Morrill, Fred Black and wife Sarah of Swanville, Ricky Bernosky and wife Tracy of Stockton Springs, and Derrick Bernosky and wife Kaleigh of Brewer; twelve great grandchildren; special niece, Lori Weymouth, and several other nieces and nephews.
The family wishes to thank nurse Maura from Waldo County Hospital for her extra special care.
A memorial service with a reception immediately following will be held Friday, October 10, 2025, at 11 a.m., at the Belfast United Methodist Church, 23 Mill Lane, in Belfast, followed by a graveside interment at 2 p.m., at Elmwood Cemetery in Searsport, Maine.
