Carol K. Inouye, obituary

THOMASTON — Carol K. Inouye, 83, passed away peacefully with her sister by her side on Friday, February 5, 2021 in Rockport, Maine.

Carol was born on January 10, 1938 in Los Angeles, California. to parents Tanenobu Inouye and Misao Takagaki Inouye. Carol graduated from John Marshall High School in Los Angeles, California, went on to attend U.C.L.A. as well as attended The California Institute of the Arts in Los Angeles. California.

Carol was known locally for her posters created of the Maine Lobster Festival for the Free Press Publication. She wrote and or illustrated more than a dozen children's books. She was the art director for several major publishing houses in New York and won awards for illustration from both the New York Society of Illustrators and the Los Angeles Society of Illustrators.

Carol’s employment locally was with the Free Press Publication in Rockland for many years in the graphics department assisting with the Ad designs.

Some of Carol’s favorite pastimes was her love of cooking, she especially enjoyed gardening, and she so much loved her two dogs, Annie & Abby, that she had adopted from the Pope Memorial Animal Shelter.

Carol will be remembered as a very creative and capable artist as well as a warm and caring person.

Carol was predeceased by her parents.

She is survived by her sister Nobuko Von Kamecke of Thomaston, Maine, along with many friends.

It was Carols wish that no services be held for her. Carol requested to be cremated and to allow private family and close friends to honor her life with a gathering to be held at a future date when safe to do so.
