ROCKPORT — The Camden Hills varsity boys soccer team rallied Friday, Oct. 18 in Rockport in a regular season finale contest against Cony with a pair of goals in the final minutes of the game.

On senior day, the Windjammers erased a 1-0 deficit to collect a 2-1 victory.

“The 'Jammers held a decided edge in territory and shots on frame in the first half but failed to find the back of the net after 40 minutes,” said Camden Hills head coach Ryan Hurley.

With 12 minutes off the clock in the second half, the visiting Rams earned a corner kick and Ian Gammon finished a header for a 1-0 advantage.

“We were a little unlucky not to be up 2-0 in the first half but we responded really well to going down 1-0,” said Hurley. “It was a team goal for the season to get to at least 10 wins so we were really pleased to be able to tick off that box.”

With 15 minutes to play, the Windjammers found the back of the net when Ben Owre scored courtesy a Daniel Rodriguez assist.

The score remained tied at 1-1 until 1:24 to play when Owre score once again, this time heading a Gus Vietze corner kick.

Casey Messer recorded four saves on five Cony shots as the Camden Hills goalkeeper, while Calvin Dacus tallied 12 saves on 17 Camden Hills shots.

Speaking about the senior day festivities, Hurley noted the day was a special time to celebrate the seniors and their parents.

“It's always a bit of a shock how fast the season winds down and how fast 4 years can fly by,” said Hurley. “We have a really outstanding group of seniors and senior parents and it has been a real joy to be around them, hopefully we can keep things rolling and make this last as long as possible!"

Camden Hills concluded the regular season with a 10-4 record, while Cony sits at 3-5-5 with its regular season finale on deck.
