Belfast City Council to consider New Year’s Day sing-along, code violations

    BELFAST — The Belfast City Council will gather for its regular council meeting Dec. 15, with agenda items including an update regarding Belfast’s poet laureate and a potential community sing-along on New Year’s Day, among others. 

    The Belfast City Council holds regular meetings on the first and third Tuesday of every month.

    Several requests for blanket letters of approval will be heard at the meeting, including one for Randall Collins & Auxiliary VFW Post 3108 for card games. Frank D. Hazeltine American Legion Post 43 is also requesting a letter approving cribbage; the approval letters would be active for a year starting Jan. 1, 2021.

    A request from the Director of Code and Planning to work with the City Attorney to prosecute code violations at the former Bradbury Manor will also be heard during the meeting. The property is located at 74 High Street, according to the meeting agenda minutes, which are available online. 

    The manager of the Belfast Transfer Station has also requested the City consider a proposal to sell stickers at local stores. 

    The upcoming meeting, which begins at 7 p.m. Dec. 15, can be attended virtually utilizing Zoom. A website address that will serve as a link to the Zoom meeting will be featured on the City's website prior to the meeting.
