ROCKLAND — AIO Food & Energy Assistance Executive Director Alan Kearl will retire from his position following years of dedicated leadership and service to the organization and the people of Knox County, according to The Board of Directors, in a news release.

"During his tenure, Kearl helped guide AIO through a period of significant growth, expanding programs and strengthening partnerships while responding to the increasing needs of local families and individuals," said the July 28 news release. "His leadership has helped position AIO as one of the region’s most trusted organizations providing food, energy assistance, and other essential services."

“Alan has led AIO with vision, compassion, and unwavering commitment,” said Ted Long, Chair of the AIO Board of Directors. “He has strengthened this organization in countless ways, and his leadership has made a lasting difference in the lives of thousands of people throughout our community. We are deeply grateful for all he has accomplished and wish him every happiness in his retirement.”

In the news release, The Board emphasized that AIO’s mission and daily operations will continue without interruption throughout the leadership transition.

"AIO’s experienced staff, dedicated volunteers, committed supporters, and strong community partnerships ensure that the organization’s vital programs and services will continue to meet the needs of Knox County residents," said AIO.

The Board has already begun a comprehensive search for AIO’s next Executive Director. A search committee will conduct a broad regional and national recruitment while also reaching out to accomplished leaders who may not currently be seeking a new position but are inspired by the opportunity to lead a respected, mission-driven organization.

“AIO is entering this transition from a position of strength,” Long said. “We have an outstanding team, a deeply engaged community, and a clear mission that continues to inspire people throughout Midcoast Maine. We are confident we will attract an exceptional leader who will build on Alan’s accomplishments and help guide AIO into its next chapter.”
