2025 Conservation and Volunteer Recognition awards announced for Coastal Mountains Land Trust
Each year, Coastal Mountains Land Trust recognizes leading volunteers, community groups, and exemplary land donors through several awards.
"Thanks to these key partners, and many others who help to support the Land Trust’s mission to conserve land for the natural and human communities," said CMLT.
- Connecting Community & Nature Award: This award honors the individuals or entity that has demonstrated the highest level of commitment to engaging the people of our community with the outdoors and the lands protected by the Land Trust.
Karen Prather and Trudi Hennemuth, Learning Landscapes Committee, for their dedication to place-based education by providing quality outdoor education opportunities for Lincolnville Central School, Lincolnville Library and the Land Trust's Learning Landscapes programming.
- Zwartjes Volunteer Award: Presented in honor of CMLT's first Board Chairman, William J. Zwartjes, for individual volunteers who have demonstrated extraordinary service to the Land Trust.
Jo Maxwell, Community Events Volunteer, for her steady and remarkable dedicated service to Coastal Mountains Land Trust community engagement programs, consistently going above and beyond to make every event welcoming, memorable, and fun.
"Our work would not be possible nor as successful without the genuine commitment, time, talents, and involvement of these and so many other volunteers," said CMLT.
Coastal Mountains Land Trust has worked since 1986 to permanently conserve land to benefit the natural and human communities of the western Penobscot Bay. The Land Trust has protected over 13,000 acres, offering 55 miles of trails for public recreation.
