Voters participating in the presidential primary election in Maine turned out in droves Tuesday, March 3, across Midcoast municipalities. 2020 marked the first time in 20 year that voters went to the polls to choose their political party candidate, as opposed to caucusing at local town halls and opera houses.
The 129th Maine Legislature enacted a Presidential Primary law in 2019, allowing voters to designate their preference for the nomination of their party’s candidate at the polls.
With the big ticket of the Democrat slate of candidates, plus a controversial Question 1 concerning vaccination laws, the turnout is large today.
