Wendell W. Ware, Sr., obituary

WASHINGTON — Wendell W. Ware, Sr., 72, died unexpectedly at home, Tuesday, June 8, 2021.

Born in Augusta, July 16, 1948, he was the son of Willard and Helen Hart Ware. As a young boy he enjoyed spending time with his grandparents, Benjamin and Alice Ware and George and Leola Hart.

In his early years he attended the Prescott School in Washington until the 8th grade. He graduated from Union High School in 1966 and later graduated from Unity College in 1970 with a Bachelor’s Degree.

Wendell married the love of his life, Helen Hastings on July 18, 1970. Together they raised their two sons in Washington.

For many years Wendell raised chickens and sold eggs to the First National Store along with cutting wood and driving truck for Farley and Son’s Landscaping. He worked for Farley’s from 2003 until retiring in 2014 due to his health.

Wendell was a family man and they were his number one priority. He was a devoted husband, father and grandfather with many friends. He will be sadly missed by all he leaves behind.

Predeceased by his son Wendell W. Ware, Jr. in May of 2018; Wendell is survived by his beloved wife, Helen H. Ware; his son Richard C. Ware and his wife Staci; his grandsons, Richard F., Rowan F. and Tenzin F. Ware, all of Washington; his brothers-in-law, Donald Hastings and his wife Deb of South Hope, Paul Hastings of Waldoboro; his aunt Abby Esancy of Burkettville; many cousins including a special cousin Marlene Bartlett; as well as a special friend and neighbor, Marty Christie.

Wendell will be laid to rest privately beside his son in Washington.
