ROCKLAND – Two women and a minor all complained of pain following a two-car collision at the intersection of Holmes Street and Broadway, at 11:20 a.m., Tuesday, Aug. 21.

According to Rockland Police, Barbara Nelson, 82, of South Thomaston, was traveling west on Holmes Street operating her 2017 Blue Ford Focus hatchback., and wearing a seatbelt.

Nelson failed to stop at the stop sign and ran into Karen Everett, 63, of Owls Head, according to a news release. Everett was traveling north on Broadway operating her 2015 Orange Honda CRV, and also wearing seatbelt.

The collision sent Everett’s vehicle into the 2016 Silver Toyota Rav 4 parked in the driveway of 83 Holmes Street. Her passenger, a minor, was in the driver side rear, and properly secured in a car seat.

ROCKLAND – For the second time in five or six years, James Woods awoke to a three-vehicle accident on his property, and the fourth time that cars have ended up there.

“I didn’t hear a thing,” Woods said of the Tuesday, Aug. 21 occurrence that sent three people to Pen Bay Medical Center for non-emergency observation.

“My neighbor woke me up,” Woods said. “It’s always that stop sign,” he said while nodding toward the sign on the opposite side of the intersection.

This time, the accident at the corner of Holmes Street and Broadway took place around 11:30 a.m., requiring Rockland Fire/EMS to request additional crew from within the department as well as mutual ambulance assistance from a neighboring town.

Rockland police and Public Works also assisted with the investigation and cleanup. Best Rate Towing and Repair hauled away the vehicles.

The previous incident involving three vehicles happened around 2 a.m., according to Woods, who said that a man ran a red light, knocking into a car that was turning from Holmes Street. That car then hit Woods’ two parked vehicles in his driveway.

More details will be added as they become available.
