Ronald Lee Cousins was born on February 21, 1943, in Rockland, Maine, to Leonard and Vera Cousins. He passed away on July 30, 2026.

Ronald graduated from Thomaston High School in 1961, and soon after graduation, he enlisted in the U.S. Air Force. He was sent to basic training and long-term technical training at Lackland Air Force Base in San Antonio, Texas. After graduating from technical training, he went on to be stationed at Little Rock Air Force Base, where he met his future wife, Mary Ellen Keller.

Soon after getting married, he was stationed in Okinawa and South Vietnam, where he served as a fuel specialist, driving fuel tankers and refueling aircraft. In 1965, he reenlisted and cross-trained as an aircraft mechanic, then applied to flight engineer's training, gaining his flying status and beginning his flying career on a C-130 aircraft. After completing this training, he went on once again to South Vietnam, where he participated in numerous combat missions in 1967 and 1968.

He truly enjoyed the Air Force and had a genuine love for flying, but after his second tour in South Vietnam, family obligations led to his separation from the Air Force, having completed his second four-year term.

Upon leaving the Air Force, he returned home to Warren, Maine, with his family, and found employment with Fisher Engineering in Rockland as a field service technician. He remained with Fisher Engineering for over twenty years before deciding it was time for a change, wanting to see the United States in full. He began a second career as a long-haul truck driver, thoroughly enjoying life on the road.

He was grateful to have seen all of the lower 48 states over his 18-plus years of trucking, traveling nearly two million miles across the country in his big rig.

Ronald is predeceased by his parents, Leonard and Vera Cousins; his sisters, Anita Chance and Laura Ann Robinson; and his daughter Miranda Cousins.

He is survived by his son, Christopher Cousins of Camden; his daughter Katherine (and Paul) Strout of Warren; his grandsons, Tyler, Jason, and Benjamin Pearse (and his wife, Rochelle); and a special niece, Cheryl Mooney of Rockland, as well as several other nieces and nephews. He is also survived by his beloved African grey parrot, Chowderbird.

Ronald is now home with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.

Ronald wished to keep a private service among his family, to be held at the Maine Veterans' Memorial Cemetery in Togus, Maine.
