Randall A. Parr, obituary
APPLETON — Randall A. Parr, 82, passed peacefully on Monday, October 19, 2026, at the Sussman Hospice House in Rockport, with his son by his side.
Randall was born in Camden on January 11, 1944, to Harry and Evelyn (Brown) Parr. After his father was killed in combat in Germany during World War II, Randall and his mother moved to Arlington, Massachusetts, where he grew up and graduated from Arlington High School.
Randall went on to college and then collected two master’s degrees: Economics from UMass Amherst in 1972, and Computer Information Systems from Bentley College in 1983.
Randall was always on the move. His career took him to different places before he found his way back to Maine. He first bought a vacation condo at Sugarloaf in the late 1980s. In 2000, he purchased land in Appleton and spent many years dreaming, planning, and constructing his home there, one project at a time.
He spent time skiing with his son, Andrew, who grew up to become a Paralympic ski racer.
Randall was a man of diverse interests, encyclopedic knowledge, and no shortage of opinions. He was involved in state politics with a passion to champion the environment and public banking. He even helped bring a public banking bill to the floor, then independently wrote and published a book on the subject.
Randall lived curiously, attempted to build things, and never stopped questioning the status quo. He didn't just find the world interesting, but actively engaged with it and left a void because of that restless energy.
Predeceased by his parents, Randall is survived by his son, Andrew Parr and his wife Susan Santucci-Parr of Owls Head; and two grandchildren, Harrison and Nyla.
Randall’s family has chosen to remember his life privately.
