Arts In The Barn presents an exhibit opening July 17, from 5 - 7 p.m. This event will exhibit paintings that highlight the natural world in Maine as seen from four different viewpoints.
Mary Ellen Manock, Tee Neville, Lynn Neville and Anne Goodale have been friends through working on community gardens together and share a vast appreciation of Maine’s environment, particularly from a botanical point of view, according to Arts in the Barn, in a news release.
In the news release, Mary Ellen Manock writes: “The wildness of midcoast Maine encompasses the most limitless subject matter an artist could want. Being out there in early moist mornings, sunny, sparkly afternoons and lingering warm evenings absorbing the flowers, coves, and islands with the birds and critters is what makes painting so much fun.”
Tee Neville has been an educator for more than 50 years and has been a principal of several schools, a leader in Gifted Children programs and passionate about all of it. She has been doing art for a long time and now she makes time in her busy life to paint in watercolors. She is now the President of the Cushing Historical Society.
Lynn Neville has always been interested in art of all descriptions which she enjoyed on her world travels. Over the last few years she has concentrated on watercolor and her current passion is painting flowers.
Anne Goodale has created fiber art here in Maine for many years looks forward to showing her new work in oils. She majored in painting at Bard College and received awards to study painting at the Whitney Museum Study Program in NY and the Yale School of Art. Her new paintings celebrate Maine’s unique landscapes as she seeks to capture a calm spirit of place and the passing of time.
Through different mediums and life experiences these four artists will show their observations and skill with watercolors, oils and acrylics.
The show is free and open to the public.
