Ninth Annual 'Paws for the Cause' basketball games to benefit Maine breast cancer charities
WALDOBORO — The Medomak Valley High School Athletic Department, in conjunction with the Medomak Valley All Sports Boosters, will hold its ninth annual “Paws for the Cause” basketball games to benefit the Lincoln Health Breast Care Program. The event will be held Tuesday, January 27, 2026 at Medomak Valley High School, when the Medomak Valley Panthers play host to the Lincoln Academy Eagles.
The boys play at 5 p.m., and the girls play at 6:30 p.m.
"The games are sure to once again this year, be a 'full house,' as both the varsity girls and boys attempt to 'Pink Out' the Medomak Valley High School gymnasium," said a joint press release by the athletic department and the booster club.
For these special games, both of the Medomak Valley teams will be wearing unique, pink uniforms. Additionally, commemorative T-shirts will be available for students and fans to purchase leading up to the games, and on the evening of the games as well.
In addition to T-shirt sales, other fundraising will be taking place prior to, and during the game as well as an opportunity to add your Personalized Pink Paw to the Honor Wall for a $1 donation or more. The evening’s 50/50 drawings and all other proceeds will go to the Lincoln Health Breast Care Program in Midcoast Maine.
“We’re excited to build upon the overwhelming success of our eight previous events,” said Samantha Simmons, Medomak Valley All Sports Booster president. “We’ve raised $62,000 for Maine Breast Cancer Charities over the past eight years and hope to continue to build upon that this year.”
