Merryspring presentation with Jean Matlack considers 'Green Burial'
Event Date
Tuesday, February 10, 2026 - 12:00 pmJean Matlack, of Midcoast Maine Green Burial, will be at Merryspring Nature Center to lead a presentation called "Green Burial" on Tuesday, Feb. 10, at 12 p.m. This talk will also be presented via the Teams link.
Do you realize what a large carbon footprint conventional burial practices have? Come and learn about green burial, the green alternative, said Merryspring, in a news release.
"Green burial sequesters CO2 and our bodies nourish the earth," said the news release. "This is the traditional way people were buried before the Civil War, and before embalming was invented. Bring all your questions."

This is an introduction to Green Burial and an update on recent developments by Matlack.
“I became aware that humans are THE evolutionary force on the planet in the 1980s," said Matlack. "When we moved to Maine in 2005 I got involved in Climate Change activity. My devotion to developing green burial groves keeps me sane.”
