Medomak Valley baseball shuts out Oceanside for first victory

WALDOBORO — After being twice postponed, the Oceanside and Medomak Valley varsity baseball showdown was finally held Tuesday, May 4 at Medomak Valley High School in Waldoboro. 

The host Panthers earned its first win of the season, improving its record to 1-4, with a 2-0 shutout over the visiting Mariners (1-4). 

Medomak Valley plated a run in each of the fourth and fifth innings, while recording five hits and stranding seven runners on base. 

Oceanside tallied six hits and left eight runners on base. 

Neither team committed an error in the contest. 

Oceanside’s Bowen Brann (two singles) was the lone repeat hitter of the contest and led the offensive charge for the Mariners. 

Medomak Valley was captained offensively by Matt Holbrook and Ethan Reed, who reach recorded a RBI single. 

Noah Crosby pitched a complete game for Medomak Valley. On the mound, Crosby walked one, fanned six, allowed six hits and tallied two hit by pitches. 

Nate Coombs pitched a complete game for Oceanside. On the mound, Coombs walked three, surrendered two earned runs, fanned 10 and tallied one hit by pitch. 

Oceanside’s next contest was slated to be a Wednesday road affair with Lincoln Academy. That contest has been postponed to Saturday, May 8 at 3 p.m. The next contest for Oceanside, now, will be on the road Friday, May 7 against Bucksport  at 4:30 p.m. 

Medomak Valley will hit the road Thursday, May 6 for its next contest to be played in Thorndike against Mount View.
