J. Edward Knight Insurance (JEK) is pleased to announce the acquisition of The David Chapman Insurance Agency, with an effective date of June 15, 2026.

Founded in 1937, The David Chapman Insurance Agency has been a trusted resource for individuals, families, and businesses throughout Damariscotta and Lincoln County for nearly 90 years. A true three-generation family agency, it has built its reputation on personal relationships, deep community roots, and a commitment to knowing each client by name and need.

The agency was established by David Chapman, a local farmer who began offering insurance to supplement his farm income and better serve his community. Operating out of his farm on Route 1, Chapman was one of the first agents to represent what would become The Concord Group Insurance Company. Over the decades, the agency grew alongside the community—passing from David Chapman to his daughter Mary and her husband John Gallagher, and later to their daughter Sarah, who became the third generation to lead the agency.

Clients of The David Chapman Insurance Agency can expect a seamless transition, with no immediate changes to their policies or coverage. JEK will continue the agency’s long-standing philosophy of building relationships first, while also offering expanded resources, additional carrier options, and enhanced support.

JEK will continue operating from its current location at 372 Main St in Damariscotta, ensuring convenience and continuity for local clients.
