Good Trouble Project concert featuring Lisa Redfern to benefit Camden Climate Action Now
The Good Trouble Project is presenting a concert to benefit Camden Climate Action Now (CAN) on September 27, at 7 p.m., at Pascal Hall, featuring singer-songwriter Lisa Redfern. The Good Trouble Project is a series of fundraising concerts founded in 2022 by local singer-songwriters John and Rachel Nicholas that has since put on three to four shows a year featuring singer-songwriters and donating most of their proceeds to local organizations. Some of the past beneficiaries are Finding Our Voices, Stewardship Education Alliance, HomeWorthy, OutMaine, Pen Bay YMCA Early Education and The Knox Clinic.
Started around a kitchen table in the Spring of 2023, CamdenCAN (ClimateActionNow) is a citizen-led organization committed to reducing Camden’s contribution to climate change through local action, education, advocacy, and resources. Since its inception, the organization has sponsored over 15 Camden Talks Climate events with the Camden Public Library, has sponsored two food garden tours to promote food sustainability, and collaborated with the Town of Camden on the outreach for its Harbor Resilience Planning project in the spring of 2024. CamdenCAN publishs a biweekly newsletter and helps the Midcoast community take advantage of climate solutions with actionable steps. See more at CamdenCAN.org.
Lisa Redfern is an award winning Maine singer songwriter who has 12 solo recordings and has shared the stage with Dave Mallet, Livingston Taylor, Cindy Kallet, The Roches and many others. Her recordings cover the gamut from lullabies to hymns to the American Songbook to her own original compositions.
GTP hosts John and Rachel have been making music together for as long as they’ve made their lives together. Their brand of Americana folk is tinged with rock energy and soulful harmonies. Both their 2016 release, House Of Dreams and their 2021 release Learning How To Walk spent several weeks in WERU’s list top 25 CDs. They started the Good Trouble Project in January of 2023 inspired by the legacy of Congressman and civil rights leader John Lewis.
The series is made possible in part by the generous donation of the venue by the Lesher Family Foundation and a stipend for the featured performer is provided by Tom O’Donovan of Harbor Square Gallery.
Pascal Hall is located at 86 Pascal Ave, Rockport. The show starts at 7 p.m., and admission is $15. For more info text John at 508-314-1506
