Midcoast Community Chorus performs 'Poetry in Song,' guest appearance by The Maine Steiners
The Midcoast Community Chorus (MCC) will return to the stage with Poetry in Song, a concert celebrating choral music inspired by poetry. The performance will take place Sunday, Jan. 25, 2026, at 3 p.m., at the Strom Auditorium, Camden Hills Regional High School, 25 Keelson Drive in Rockport, Maine.
This year’s concert will feature a special guest appearance by The Maine Steiners, the University of Maine's premier all-male a cappella group.
Over 100 singers and local musicians, led by Artistic Director Kim Murphy and accompanist Matt Mainster, will present an inspiring and diverse program of songs, largely drawn from poems, according to MCC, in a news release. Some of the featured poets include Sara Teasdale, Langston Hughes, Robert Frost, and Harriet Prescott Spofford. The concert will feature works that have been set to music, highlighting the emotional depth and lyrical power of poetry in a choral setting.
"At MCC, we believe music has the power to elevate and transform," said Anna Jones, Executive Director, in the news release. "Poetry in Song is a testament to the enduring relationship between words and melody. We invite the audience to experience the magic when beautiful poetry meets the power of the human voice."
Tickets are $20 and $30 and are available at The Grasshopper Shop in Rockland, The Green Store in Belfast, and online at mccsings.org/tickets.
