'5 People, 5 Months, 5K Nautical Miles: What Could Go Wrong?' begins 2026 Come Boating series
Come Boating!, Belfast’s community boating organization, and the Belfast Free Library are teaming up once again to offer the Winter Adventure Series.
On Tuesday, Jan. 13, at 6:30 p.m. the 2026 series will feature a presentation by Jonathan Fulford for a talk titled, “5 People, 5 Months, 5K Nautical Miles: What Could Go Wrong?”
Long time environmental activist and seasoned sailor Jonathan Fulford set out from Belfast on a voyage to Labrador and back aboard his sturdy 28 ft. sailboat. With a rotating crew of five, the team faced challenges both expected and surprising – from close encounters with polar bears to riding out a hurricane that nearly ended the trip. Join Fulford as he shares stories, photos and reflections from an unforgettable adventure.
The program will be offered in person in the Abbott Room of the Belfast Free Library with a Zoom option. To register for the Zoom link to this program please go to belfastlibrary.org/events/ and find the listing.
Coming up in the series: February 10, a presentation about the Monster the Loch 2025 Rowing Race in Loch Ness Scotland; and March 10, Travels in Scotland, Shetland, and the Orkney Islands with Marci Richardson.
