Thomaston Select Board hosts monthly Community Conversations
Thomaston Select Board Chair Chris Rector invites the public to engage in the Board's informal, once-a-month meeting for an open conversation between Thomaston’s governance and the public it represents.
On Jan. 28, Rebecca Green, current councilor and former chairperson of Waterville Town Council, nonprofit administrator, educator, and musician, will join the Community Conversation. Green founded Amplify, a nonprofit consulting firm. She has worked in the Midcoast for Homeworthy and Bay Chamber Concerts, and cofounded Waterville’s Elm City Community Music School, serving over 300 students across Central Maine.
Green has a passion for community development and multi-sector partnerships to achieve common goals.
"Her experience and skills will provide us with information as we capitalize on assets and opportunities-and face challenges-in Thomaston, now approaching our 250th birthday," wrote the Town, in a news release.
"Together we will foster a civil exchange where all ideas and questions will be shared openly," the Town wrote, in its Community Conversation news release. "Those thoughts will allow the Select oard members to hear directly from the citizens and then convey those insights, concerns, thoughts, suggestions to the Board."
Citizens unable to attend a meeting are encouraged to send comments and/or questions to Chris, crector@thomastonmaine.gov, with Community Conversations in the subject line. Thoughts will be shared at the meeting.
Meetings are on the last Wednesday of each month, at the same place and time.
Selectboard members may alternate as "host" and announced prior to the meeting.
Monthly reminders are out and that will include the name and email address of the Select Board member who will be hosting.
Join for coffee and treatss.
