River Road in St. George closed briefly for motor vehicle crash
ST. GEORGE — Upon hearing a 911 report of a motor vehicle crash on River Road in St. George involving a car and a tractor trailer truck, firefighters for that town decided immediately to request mutual aid from South Thomaston's fire and ambulance services. However, when the first to arrive got a closer look, responding units were allowed to slow down.
River Road (Route 131) was closed to traffic in the vicinity of 957 River Road following the call to Knox Regional Communications Center, at approximately 1:35 p.m., Thursday, Jan. 22, 2026. South Thomaston FD helped with traffic control to the west of the scene. The South Thomaston ambulance crew waited at the scene while the St. George EMS crew assessed the people involved.
The car was eventually towed from the scene by AutoMaster, and following some repositioning of its load, the tractor trailer drove away.
The road reopened within an hour.
