ROCKPORT — The Good Trouble Project concert series will hold a fundraising concert for New Hope Midcoast on Saturday, Oct. 3, at 7 p.m., at Pascal Hall. The Good Trouble Project is a series of  benefit concerts founded by local singer songwriters, John and Rachel Nicholas in 2022. They produce three shows a year to benefit local organizations. The featured performer for this show will be Seth Gallant.

 

New Hope Midcoast has been serving the local community for 45 years providing services for those affected by domestic violence, dating violence and stalking. As a regional resource center, New Hope Midcoast has three locations that serve Knox, Lincoln, Sagadahoc and Waldo counties with their main offices located in Rockland. From housing and shelter to safety planning, legal support and support groups, New Hope Midcoast has worked to create a culture that does not tolerate domestic abuse.

 

Seth Gallant grew up in a mill town in Western Maine in a family that played music on the front porch on almost any occasion. Traditions of folk, country, and Acadian music shape the songs he writes and performs today. He has several independently released recordings and is working on an ambitious songwriting project chronicling the history of mill towns in Maine, according to The Good Trouble Project, in a news release.

 

John and Rachel Nicholas moved to Midcoast Maine in 2012. They are known for their soulful songs and harmonies, according to the news release. They have performed throughout New England as well as on and off with David Dodson in The Lowdown band. 

 

"The Good Trouble Project is fortunate to have as sponsors for their concerts: The Lesher Family Foundation in Rockport and Harbor Square Gallery in Camden," said the news release. "Their combined support make it possible to donate 90% of the evenings proceeds to the beneficiary as well as pay the featured performer a modest fee."

 

Tickets are $15 at the door.
