Fun afternoon of grilling, conversation with Coastal Recovery Community Center, Knox County Treatment Court
Coastal Recovery Community Center (CRCC), along with Knox County Treatment Court, sponsored a fun afternoon of grilling and conversation on the lawn of St. Peter’s Episcopal Church in Rockland. Ashlee Herrick, Case Manager with Reg. 6 Treatment and Recovery Court, Knox Maine Pretrial Services, Inc., reached out to CRCC’s co-founder and board president Erin Hustus, for a brainstorming session to plan for the mid-August event.
Herrick and Hustus, along with familiar volunteer faces from both nonprofits, brought an impressive-sized grill, lots of hotdogs, salads, crunchies, sweets, and drinks. Grill master was Jeff Hawes, Treatment Court Assistant and an associate of Herrick’s.
The event was attended by participants from both nonprofits, and CRCC board member Amy Curtis-Robinson was on hand to assist and welcome locals interested in great food during a casual event in the early evening summer sunshine.
Herrick and Hustus plan more mutual get together events, featuring CRCC-based pot luck or crockpot events as the days shorten and get cooler. Each time CRCC and Treatment Court is able to join forces, our community strengthens.
