Frederick Street house fills with smoke in early morning hours
ROCKLAND — A Frederick Street house filled with smoke early Thursday morning, leading to an initial response from Rockland Fire Dept. and its mutual aid at approximately 3:25 a.m., May 28, 2026. But when firefighters made their preliminary exterior walk-around and found the suspected origin on an exterior wall, and further ensured that the flames were contained to that region, Camden FD was canceled while still en route.
With the help of Rockport firefighters and their portable lighting, Rockland FD confirmed that the fire at 15 Frederick Street started from an exterior electrical outlet. However, the department has called for the assistance of the Office of State Fire Marshal to determine what sparked the initial flames.
The last remaining firefighters left the scene at 4:48 a.m.
