Through July, Eat, Drink, Buy Yellow at 100 Local Businesses to Brighten Lives of Domestic Abuse Survivors
Get your mango, corn, saffron, passion fruit, curry, pineapple, Golden Milk --and of course lemon --while you can, at the “Into the Light!” Foodie Festival running through Wednesday July 31.
Sixty eateries across 15 Midcoast towns including Vinalhaven and Islesboro are featuring yellow main courses, desserts and cocktails that brighten taste buds while bringing light to domestic abuse survivors, in the biggest fundraiser of the year for Finding our Voices. Finding Our Voices is the statewide, grassroots nonprofit providing sister-support to domestic abuse survivors. Proceeds from “Into the Light!” go to the group's Get Out Stay Out Fund that pays for emergency shelter plus car, legal, home security, and food expenses.
The non-eateries donating all or part of the proceeds of yellow items during July to Finding Our Voices include Glendarragh Lavender with scarves, Seasons Downeast Designs with flower bouquets, Lily Lupine & Fern and First Fig with yellow-label wine, and Barnswallow with yellow books. The artist Antonia Munroe, is donating a linen, hand-stenciled table runner. Windsor Chairmakers has donated a swayback, handcrafted armchair painted historic yellow just for “Into the Light!” and valued at $1,400.00 that can be yours with a $20.00 raffle ticket bought at the Lincolnville showroom, or by calling 207 789 5188.
For the first-ever “Into the Light!” Selfie Raffle, THIRTY-EIGHT local stores have donated special yellow gifts for gift baskets for adults, children, and pets. Every selfie uploaded to a QR code on the “Into the Light!” page of the FindingOurVoices.net website counts as one ticket to the raffle. The drawing for raffle winners will be in mid-August.
First National Bank is the lead sponsor of 2024’s “Into the Light!”, joined by Lucinda Watson, Dirigo Law Group, Borden Cottage, Viking Lumber, Superior Restoration, The Tailored Closet, Cold Mountain Builders, Camden Real Estate, Liv Rockefeller and Ken Shure, Rickey Celentano, and Hay Runner. Media sponsors are 106.9 Frank FM and 105.5 The Wolf.
